Noble Spotlight: Shasche Allen

Updated: Jun 7, 2024

The Noble Uprising team is happy to welcome Shasche Allen as this summer’s Impact Research Intern in partnership with the University of Maryland’s Do Good Institute. Shasche is a New York native with a Bachelor’s in Sociology and a recent University of Maryland (UMD) graduate where she obtained a Master of Public Policy degree. Driven by her passion for social change and impact, Shasche specialized in social policy during her time at UMD, focusing on salient topics regarding the improvement of social infrastructures such as education reform, housing reform, and criminal justice reform.

In her efforts to improve social outcomes and repair the disparities between those that benefit from social welfare systems, and those that lack access to these systems and do not benefit from these systems, Shasche has worked with numerous nonprofits tackling the issues of homelessness and education. Notably, last summer, she served as the research and policy intern at the National Alliance to End Homelessness (NAEH), a national nonprofit committed to preventing and ending homelessness in the U.S.

At the NAEH, Shasche researched and analyzed critical studies examining the manifold aspects of homelessness so as to inform service providers on the best and most innovative strategies for supporting, engaging, and empowering populations experiencing homelessness. Additionally, in order to better service vulnerable populations, Shasche consulted with senior fellows at various Continuum of Care programs—regional programs that provide funding and services for ending homelessness across the country— to compile a report of the best practices for the workforce system to aid vulnerable populations.

Considering Shasche’s extensive knowledge and experience as a researcher, as well as an advocate for individuals experiencing homelessness, we look forward to having her support Noble Uprising’s efforts to better prepare and equip the women we serve with the most critical and employable skills needed in the changing economy.

Following her internship at Noble Uprising, Shasche hopes to continue her work as a public servant and an active agent of change in an organization or government agency that focuses on one of her three issue areas: education, housing, and criminal justice reform.
